'92 Nationals Scrapbook

You know the feeling that goes with creating your model from sticks and a dream and then turning it loose to perform what can always be its swan song. Contests let the rest of the world vicariously live those feelings with you for a few moments.

Someone has to win! Scott Puzio of Jonesboro, GA, wipes away the morning drizzle at the conclusion of a Q500 during his heat.

Combat duels require quick reflexes, surefire engines and reliable gear. The owner of this kit appears ready for any combat opponent.

Between heats, Bill Hinnant checks prop pitch in the Q500 racing heats.

Shep Johnson begins his program as Curtis Youngblood adds fuel.

NEPRO members John Yassemedis and Lewis Schwab (right) let off a little early morning steam before their turn comes up in the Q500.

Scale Day and People

Scale Day started out with a bit of a spritz, but the control-line diehards pressed on.

Model airplanes abound, but it's the people who are the real show. No matter how a model is controlled, there's a person behind each and every one.

The Nationals give all modelers the chance to be dedicated pilots; there's no other contest like it anywhere in the world.
