AMA Building Fund: Update IX
A glance at the Building Fund barometer shows considerable change since last month's report. The new total of $137,762.96 is as of mid‑March 1982. Knowing that this amount has been raised by the friends and members of the AMA and the AMA clubs is certainly a source of pride in which we all can share.
A large number of people are a part of this unique experience. They are building something beautiful for themselves and all those who will come in the future. These people are building model aviation's only permanent home, and the names of the builders will be permanently recorded on it.
Take a moment to read the names listed this month and in past reports. When you see one of these people, say "thank you." Tell the clubs you know they care, and that you appreciate it. If you have the opportunity, thank the industry donors who have lent their support.
At this time over 40 AMA clubs have contributed to the Building Fund. Their support will be permanently recognized in the new building.
There will only be six months left in the Building Fund Drive when this issue is out. Remember, the drive is over at the close of 1982.
The accompanying chart shows contributions to the Building Fund by AMA district.
Donations come in all forms. Charlie Spear (District IV AVP) helped by arranging the printing of our new Building Fund brochures as a donation by the Winston Printing Company. Dave Rosenblatt of Skokie, IL, has offered his experience to review the HVAC system proposals for the new building. AMA's Frank Ebling is working on the landscaping portion of the design.
Next month the WRAM Show (February) and the Toledo Show (April) can be added to the total. This should help the drive get even closer to its goal.
Physical progress continues. As of this writing all the legal matters have been resolved. We expect to have the industrial revenue bonds issued on April 20, 1982. Shortly thereafter, AMA and the bank (purchaser of the bonds) will go to settlement. With the construction bidding now in progress, we can expect to break ground in late May or early June. These events are made possible by the money raised by the Building Fund Drive.
The Honor Wall, recognizing donations of $1,000 and up, has another addition this month in the name of John Brodbeck of K & B Manufacturing.
