AMA Building Fund: Update VIII

$100,000 DOWN—$60,000 TO GO.

Happily, the building fund barometer has been able to climb steadily upward. This month's update proudly announces that the fund-raising has passed the $100,000 level. This achievement has allowed the necessary timely steps to keep moving in order to realize our goal: a permanent home for U.S. aeromodeling.

This $100,000 is an accumulation of donations and contributions ranging from one dollar to thousands of dollars by AMA members, AMA clubs, and AMA's friends. (When we speak of AMA's friends, the reference is principally directed to our hobby industry.)

This month's report is presented to show the response and support of our hobby industry to the Building Fund drive. It is timely because the industry has helped in large measure for the drive to reach this $100,000 milestone.

The Aeronautics Division of the Hobby Industry Association, under the dynamic chairmanship of Frank Garcher of Midwest Products, has conducted a fund-raising effort to assist the Academy in establishing the permanent home for aeromodeling. The Hobby Industry Association itself is expected to make a direct contribution of $15,000 to the Aeronautics Division effort to help AMA. It is also lending valuable support in the form of a campaign among the HIA members encouraging them to participate also. The effort has generated $50,000 for the Building Fund in cash and pledges.

The pictures on this page were taken at the HIA Convention and Trade Show in Dallas in January, when some of the various Building Fund plaques were presented to industry contributors who were in attendance.

We are happy to present these pictures, but they don't show all of the contributors. A look at the list of industry donors will attest to the fact many are not shown in this month's pictures. But you, the membership, can take pride in the fact that your industry supports you, your hobby, and the future of your hobby.
