AMA Building: Update XIV
Fund Drive Status
By the time you read this, the Building Fund Drive will almost be over.
So far, the past 14 months of effort for the Building Fund has raised over $200,000. There are over 400 names for the Gold Member Scroll, showing donors of $50 or more; over 300 names for the Contributing Members Honor Roll, showing donations of $100 and more; and almost 100 names to be displayed on the various plaques for donations of over $500.
All of these names will be on permanent display in the lobby of the new AMA building to honor those who supported this project when it was needed most. By December 31, 1982, the list of names for display in the lobby will be completed. After the end of the year, all names as we have them will be published so contributors can verify that their names appear as they wish.
Limited Edition Items
The following items are running low and will not be reordered or available after December 31:
- Less than 250 Brick pins and charms
- Less than 200 Member patches
- Less than 250 Silver patches
- Less than 100 Gold Member patches
Contest certificate awards for the Building Fund will also not be available after December 31. (Some clubs are ordering the award certificates now for next summer’s contest while they still can.) These items are quickly becoming collectibles — precious mementos of a once-in-a-lifetime fund-raising effort to secure a permanent home for aeromodeling.
Name Corrections and Verification
In publishing contributor names monthly, we have discovered some errors. Warren Sanderson (College Park, MD) and A. C. Hepler were omitted from the Gold Members list. We also misspelled the names of Bob Hackley and Clayton Clark in the Contributing Members listing.
Most names are taken from signatures on letters or relayed to AMA HQ by clubs or AMA officers in longhand, which sometimes makes proper spelling difficult. If you see an error in the listing of names, please call or write AMA HQ so we can correct it.
Mailing Issues
On many occasions we have mailed out Building Fund items only to have them returned by the Post Office. This has been a particular problem when mailing to clubs. The Post Office seems to have little patience with clubs that use a P.O. box for package delivery. If you or your club are expecting something from AMA and it doesn't arrive within a reasonable time, call or write and let us know.
