AMA News - District III Report
During the summer months we drive several thousand miles for model airplane activities. As we do this, I am constantly amazed by the driving habits of a small minority of drivers. It seems that they are in a hurry to get nowhere! Does this mentality carry over into the world of model aviation? I hope not. The AMA Safety Code and club flying site etiquette are created to help everyone enjoy the hobby safely. Please respect the rules for safe flying.
Homecoming 2002
The new format used for Homecoming 2002 was positively received by the membership. Everyone went home happy. Associate Vice President Joe Vislay attended, and his pictures illustrate some of the activity.
Extreme Flight Championship
The first Extreme Flight Championship is now history. For those who missed it, the show was an invitational gathering of top aircraft and helicopter pilots from around the world, held at WACO Field in Troy, OH.
The show was produced by:
- Vicki and Frank Noll
- Lisa and Wendell Adkins
- Jane and Terry Boston
- Joe Balmer
- Carla and Gary Webb
- Chris and Don Fry
- Cheryl Jorgensen
- Joe Hahn
- Doug Miller
- Jim Martin
- Jeff Holsinger
- Jim Dewinter
- Bill Lehn
Who says it takes a multitude of club members to produce a great activity? Chip Hyde and Curtis Youngblood proved they are still the top pilots in the modeling world. Matt Chapman thrilled everyone with his full-scale aerobatic show.
Greater Pittsburgh ARCS Activities
The members of the Greater Pittsburgh Aero Radio Control Society (ARCS) held two worthwhile events. First, the members organized a static display and electric flying demonstration for the veterans at the Commonwealth’s Southwestern Veterans Center in Pittsburgh.
The ARCS also conducted a Delta Dart building program for the Ingomar Cub Scouts. This event was organized by Jim Rediske and was well attended by the Scouts and their parents.
