Control Line: Aerobatics
Wynn Paul
AT THIS TIME there are several products available for Stunt fliers that are not available through regular hobby shops. These are, for the most part, products of the sometimes-nefarious "cottage industries"; however, the writer feels that this group of "manufacturers" can deliver the goods. Please note these manufacturers produce items in their spare time and are subject to regular job pressures; allow for possible delays and do not contact the writer or Model Aviation about delivery times.
Wings
Let's start with wings, since this is the most basic part of a new construction project.
- John Poynter — foam wings covered with balsa. The "basic collection" consists of Genesis, Gieseke, Nobler, Stiletto, and Derringer 46 wings; special ones can be built on request. John now uses an epoxy-type glue to hold down the skins, which takes longer to prepare. Allow at least one month for delivery. Prices vary by specification. John has reportedly stopped making elevators and stabilizers.
- Contact: John Poynter, 10261 Janice Lynn, Cypress, CA 90630; tel: (213) 596-9053.
- Bob Nicks — cuts foam wings supplied to Stunt fliers without sheeting. Wings are ready for the bellcrank and sheeting.
- Contact: Bob Nicks, 1211 Brookgreen Drive, Cary, NC 27511; tel: (919) 467-6270.
Engine work
At present, the only person the writer knows who is doing engine rework is Vic Garner.
