District IV Report - 2004/01
Mid Atlantic Jet Rally — May 24–25, 2003
From Frank A. Rega of the Tidewater Radio Control Club in Chesapeake, Virginia, came the following report about the Mid Atlantic Jet Rally held May 24–25, 2003.
The Jet Rally turned out to be one of the best in 14 years, despite the threatening weather. We had two full days of flying and no rain. There were 25 registered pilots and about 70 aircraft. There were three incidents on Saturday, mostly due to pilot error.
The Navy did a fine job of cooking for the many spectators who had arrived over the weekend. Between Saturday and Sunday there must have been 500 or more spectators enjoying the show.
Highlights
- Two full days of flying with no rain.
- Approximately 25 registered pilots and 70 aircraft.
- Three incidents on Saturday, primarily pilot error.
- Large spectator turnout (estimated 500+ over the weekend).
Winners and notable flights
