Club News

Monticello, Illinois

Club 1131, the Monticello Model Makers Radio Control Club, recently held its first sailplane event promoting giant sailplane flying. Forty-one pilots, with more than a hundred giant-scale sailplanes (4–10 meters), soared at the Monticello County Airport, home of the Illini Glider Club.

This event promises to become one of the premier sailplane events in the country, thanks to the cooperation of the Monticello club, the Illini Glider Club, and JR. The tows and flights ran smoothly due to planning by event director Pete Goldsmith and his wife, Carolyn.
