Report from Reeves Lippincott (Wasilla, AK)
"This is Alaska Radio Control Society (ARCS) member Joe Poletti. Joe is 79 years young and still gets to beat the young guys with his original design Hi-Hopes. Hi-Hopes has a 115-inch wingspan and is powered with a Jeti 45-3 motor with nine cells, 1700 mAh NiCads.
"Hi-Hopes has aileron, flaps, elevator, and rudder controls. This was Joe's first Alaskan contest.
"Joe is a World War II combat veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. He fought there as an artilleryman with the 84th Infantry Division. We are proud of Joe and are glad to have him as a member of the ARCS."
Report from Jerry Cohen
"On September 20–21, the Mount Rainier Radio Control Society held its first All-Airplanes Fly-In and Swap Meet. The weather was perfect and the pilot and spectator turnout was very good.
"The 41 pilots and 56 airplanes enjoyed two days of good flying accompanied by great weather. Four flying stations stayed busy, with each pilot receiving a raffle ticket for each flight.
"Great Planes donated an O.S. .91, a RealFlight simulator and several other items. Other donations included plans by Nick Ziroli and a subscription to R/C Report. Balsa USA, Tower Hobbies, Sherline Products, Ultimate Hobbies of Auburn, Washington, and Tumwater Hobby Shop also donated prizes."
Jerry reported that each pilot received two prizes. He sends his thanks to the sponsors of this event and to all the club volunteers who made the fly-in possible.
In last month's column I wrote about the Whidbey Island R/C Society's All-Bird event held this past August.
These are the remaining photos sent in by Michael Mosbrooker. Thank you, Mike!
Until next time!
