WAYNE VENETZ of Helena, Montana, sent the following pictures of the Flying Tigers' first float fly, which took place on September 13–14, 2003. The site was Lake Helena.
The event attracted fliers from Boulder, Missoula, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Clyde Park, Montana. If you have never been to Montana, you can't imagine the awesome scenery.
Harry Miller's J-3 was one of three. Tom Bennett and Ron Ramer from Missoula were also there with Cubs.
Morris Burner had the only crash of a fixed-wing aircraft when he missed the lake. I would like to hear the story behind that!
The weather Saturday left something to be desired, but on Sunday it cooperated and everyone had a great time.
By the time you get this magazine you should be able to send me the photos of your events to share with others. If you don't send me something, I am going to post some of my baby pictures!
My grandson Caden Crabb in his introduction to "big birds." He became an AMA member after the Toledo show and already has an account (Grandpa's) at the hobby shop. Club member Carl Martin made him a name tag and a pair of wings just his size!
Keep your airspeed up. Bruce.
