Operating Expenses and Financial Notes
This month I am including the Schedules of Operating Expenses. There you can see how much AMA’s general operating expenses increased from the year 2000 to 2001. You will notice that salaries and fringe benefits account for approximately half of the increase. That increase is primarily cost-of-living and some merit raises.
If you kept your Statement of Activities, you will find these totals under the major heading of Expenses. It is the first item and that explains the numbers in detail.
The only way these numbers can really be of major significance to you is for you to save each column; eventually you will have all the numbers.
As has been said before, you can get a complete copy of the audit report for a minimum charge of $5 (amount subject to change) by contacting Vicki Barkdull at AMA headquarters.
Executive Council
As a matter of information, I would like to say that the Executive Council members do not receive a salary for serving. They are strictly volunteers.
Season and Participation
Christmas is behind us and winter is here. I hope all of you are building and getting ready for summer flying sessions, whether it be for a contest or for fun.
Model aviation is a balanced hobby and sport. When you participate for the fun of doing it, that’s a hobby. When you can compete, that makes it a sport.
You can participate in this activity indoors—building and planning—and outdoors—flying. Rain or shine, there is always something you can do in this great sport of ours.
Closing Thoughts
Remember: Amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.
Those who judge do not matter; those who matter do not judge.
As usual A-B-C: Always Be Courteous.
Until later ...
