Audit and Financial Report
The auditors are doing their work regarding the books. I expect the financial report will be posted on the Web when it is complete, and I will include the usual statements in this column as soon as they are available.
Insurance
The liability insurance premium for 2004–2005 is $890,000. That is an increase, but we have coverage. Fly safely!
Events
I just returned from the Weak Signals Toledo Show. It was a great show — wonderful people and lots of goodies. Now to find time to use them!
Proposed multipurpose building (indoor flying site)
AMA is investigating the possibility of building a multipurpose facility that would include an indoor flying site and additional space for museum and event use.
Planned and potential uses include:
- Extensive use for the museum and storage for museum properties
- Space for traveling exhibits and extra display areas
- Classrooms and student tours
- Conference rooms, exhibit and banquet areas
- A theatre for educational use and special showings
- Use by families of fliers and during the Nats
- Year-round programs: informative programs for school children and civic clubs, symposiums, and exhibits
The museum would benefit from extra space for traveling exhibits, student tours, classrooms for staff and invited lecturers, and secure storage. The theatre would serve museum films and special showings at various times of the year. The multipurpose design is intended to provide year-round use.
Indoor flying site details
- Size: approximately 50 yards square (about 150 feet each way)
- Ceiling height: will qualify for a Category II site
- Observation areas: provided for viewing the flying
This is not a complete list of all things being considered; additions and deletions will be made as the design evolves.
Remember, ABC — always be courteous. Until later ...
Reminder
Since Indiana does not utilize Daylight Savings Time, AMA Headquarters remains on Eastern Standard Time for the summer months.
