AMA Thanks RCMA for Donation

The Academy thanks the members of the Radio Control Manufacturers Association (RCMA) for its generous donation of $5,000 to help defray the expenses incurred during the ongoing Broadband over Power Lines (BPL) activity.

Since the announcement by the FCC last year, the Academy has been active in attempting to assess any impact BPL might have on our operations. This resulted in a filing with the FCC following the Notice of Inquiry, the Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM), and final reply comments to the NPRM.

In addition, various Frequency Committee and Frequency Advisory Council members have attended conferences dealing with proposed standards relating to emissions and Part 15 of the FCC regulations.

Opportunities have arisen for the Academy to monitor BPL activity in areas where it is being tested. Additional liaison with the ARRL (Amateur Radio Relay League) has proven valuable in helping the Academy understand the nature of any possible problem as it seeks to represent RC users and the industry.

The gift from RCMA is greatly appreciated.
