RC RACING RULES CHANGE PROPOSALS
Three Radio Control Racing urgent rules change proposals are currently under consideration by the RC Racing Contest Board. The board has voted to take immediate action on these proposals. A final vote will be taken approximately four weeks after this notice for ratification of each proposal. If these proposals are of concern to you, please contact your district RC Racing Contest Board member to voice your opinion.
Proposal #1 (Submitted by Rick Moreland, AMA 3113)
Amend Paragraph 23.3 to read:
- 23.3.1 If time permits, and there is no frequency conflict, ties shall be broken by a flyoff race. Otherwise, the best single race time shall be considered in determining final placings.
- 23.3.2 If a prize is to be awarded for the best single race time of the event ("fast time trophy"), race times achieved during flyoff races shall be eligible for the fast-time trophy.
- 23.3.3 If a national record is set during a flyoff race, the flyoff race shall be considered part of the "AMA Sanctioned Competition" for purposes of paragraph 2, "Acceptance of Records" under "RECORDS" in the General Information section of this rule book.
Proposal #2 (Submitted by Rick Moreland, AMA 3113)
- Brief summary: Remove confusion on who reflies when a problem occurs while running a heat.
- Logic behind change: Too much confusion on reflies. The present language is too open to interpretation. (Contact the Competitions Department for the complete text of the proposal.)
Proposal #3 (Submitted by Duane Gall, AMA 88422)
- Very extensive proposal replacing all sections of the RC Racing rules. (Contact the Competitions Department for the complete text of the proposal.)
The Safety/Emergency proposal published in the January issue of Model Aviation to revise the barrier cage specifications has been ratified and will go into effect on January 1, 2000, per the proposal.
